The stand as a package.

The project required the design of a temporary stand for the commercial launch of a new type of coffee by Salzillo Tea & Coffee, aimed to a well-off market.

From the starting point, we paid attention to the duality that usually presents the traditional package of whole-bean coffee. In general it consists of an apparently aseptic and conventional container, but whose gold-colored interior seems to highlight the food product.

Then we considered the possibility of understanding the stand as a big package where showing the new product. Therefore, and taking into account the low-cost construction budget requirements, we built a stand where the atmosphere is achieved throughout the light effects and multiple reflections of the inner material: emergency thermal blanket. Though not being actually a construction material, it entirely fitted our needs. So we transformed it into an 8 meter high curtain that wrapped the interior space completely.

Lamps were designed on purpose for the event, taking advantage of the own cups where coffee will be served after its launch. Suspending from the ceiling, they make up a big “5” (the name of the new coffee) that seems to float in the middle of the stand.

The outer façade could not but be an invitation to get in: a big half-open black curtain that would arouse public’s curiosity and a neon sign to add an exciting touch.

In summary, the combination of a carefully designed lighting system and the virtues of a material turn the project into a game of sparkles and reflections at a very profitable cost.
