EXPANSION GRADA FRANCHISE

Murcia, 2017

+++

A long band that solves the whole project.

We were commissioned to transform an existing industrial unit into a new space, able to house cafeteria, restaurant and bar under a Sports Bar concept, but avoiding the usual thematization of this kind of businesses.

This project would work as the prototype of a new line of business, so its concept should be replicable and easily recognizable. It should also have an impressive appearance whilst utilizing cost-efficient and long lasting construction resources to make its brand extension viable.

Under these requirements, an interior cladding system defines the project at two levels. On one hand, its folds and curves provide a suitable atmosphere by creating subspaces and adjusting the degree of privacy. On the other hand it controls the desired light level of each area, since it incorporates integrated indirect lighting solutions. Floor texture and hardness, as well as cladding materials adapt and reinforce the effect. Conduits remain exposed, but disappear against a lower lighting plane. In short, all these elements make up a whole system with its own rules, which allow to be adapted to future premises without needing to turn to theme strategies.

Graphic elements were incorporated into the project from the very beginning, to make them work as architectural resources. This approach is clearly perceptible in the huge logo through which people get inside and in the sport graphics (die-cut on the interior cladding, woven/printed on the floor), specifically developed for this project. Cut vinyl are used in a very delicate way, such as on the walls that recreate a football net, whose texture creates a 3d-effect that improves the perception of the walls quality.
